Article Publication

A decision to publish a submitted manuscript is made once it has successfully addressed all peer review comments and suggestions.

The manuscript is subsequently subjected to copyediting. It is then set in a galley format following the journal style of Acta Medica Philippina. Along with any remaining questions after copyediting, the galley is sent back through the Corresponding Author. A galley will only be considered ready for publication once any remaining clarifications are provided by the authors through the corresponding author and full approval of the final galley is received. At this point, the article is uploaded to the Acta Medica Philippina website.

Acta Medica Philippina is only available online. Published articles are available under an open-access model
with Creative Commons License Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 License

Submissions by individual authors are first uploaded in the Early Access tab of the Journal

Articles uploaded in the Early Access category are captured by Google Scholar but not in SCOPUS. These are queued and subsequently included in a formal issue. Once included in the regular issue, that article is removed from the Early Access category.

All articles accepted for publication are issued a Direct Object Identifier (DOI) tag through CrossRef®. Individual submissions have the same DOI tag whether they are in the ONLINE category or subsequently in the regular issue.

Articles included in an Institutional Issue are collated according to the instructions of the institution. Once completed, these are all published together as a separate issue according to the date that the Institution may request. In case an Institution is not able to complete the collation of articles in an acceptable timeframe, the issue is put on floating status. Either an Institution requests an alternative available date, or the Journal selects a future date that is still available.

In case a printed (hard copy) issue is desired, an Institution can do it at its own expense. The Journal Editorial Staff however should be involved in the discussions with a contracted printing press to ensure that the printed issue complies with the journal style.

A formal request to print an Acta Medica Philippina issue must be sent to the Editor-in-Chief. An agreement must be signed by all parties involved to ensure that the journal style and format are strictly followed.

Copyright of hard copy issues is shared by the article authors through their Institution and the Journal.

Any commercial use of printed copies will be subject to additional licensing fees to be paid to the Journal. Selling copies for profit as well as distribution by third parties for promotional purposes are considered, among others, commercial use.
